Provided educational development and instruction in the departments of Visual Technologies' and Fine Art's post-secondary degree programs.

Lectured and taught lab class for entry-level visual technologies and CIT programs exploring the elements of design from which advertising, computer graphics, and graphic arts are structured. Emphasis was placed on the value of technology use concepts to creatively communicate ideas.

Designed and taught course to introduce and develop skills in working with the computer for commercial art applications. Focus was on "real-world" graphic design projects taught on both the Macintosh and PC-compatible computer systems.

Developed and taught this senior level course for the school's first four-year degree program. Students were taught advanced design principles to solve a variety of design problems with emphasis on designing for commercial media, including proper typography, and professional portfolio development.

Developed and taught senior level course traditionally and online to provide students with a working knowledge of the identity development process relevant to industry standards. Students found "real-world" non-profit identities, including a final public presentation of their efforts

Introduction to Design - 2003,2004(3)
Taught this course for non-art majors who were interested in learning about the principles and elements of design. Emphasis was on the appreciation and critical analysis of design. Lectures were also provided on crossing technological boundaries and academic and career paths.

Provided educational development instruction in the School of Design post-secondary career education program.

Created and delivered lecture course in the history of art with emphasis on design. It examined the relationship between design, arts and technology with emphasis on the artist/designer's role in 20th century society.

Survey of Media and Design, 1997(4), 1998(4), 1999(4), 2000(4), 2001(4), 2002(3)
Developed and lectured required course for beginning students. Presented a survey of the computer animation, graphic design and multimedia industries. It focused on entry-level jobs and responsibilities, career paths, characteristics necessary for success, regional differences in employment including types of projects and products.

Advanced Layout, 1998, 1999, 2000
Developed and taught in-depth course concentrating on the functionality of page and publishing design. Concentration was on using graphic elements while dealing with high-end print production issues.

Advanced Typography, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000
Redeveloped and taught this course to include both traditional and computer generated type. Students created type for advanced typographic solutions and included a survey of modern type use as design in publishing.

Advertising Design, 1999(2), 2000(2)
Lectured this course on the history and trends of design, media and technology in advertising, including the changing types and roles of advertising agencies.

Art Direction, 1998
Lectured and taught course introducing the various duties and responsibilities of art direction in various agencies including print and multi-media. Students developed and tracked projects through concept to delivery.

Art History, 2000
Lectured in the Interior Design school on the history of art with emphasis on architecture and interior design.

Basic Design and Color Theory, 1999, 2001(2)
Lectured and taught this foundation studio course introducing the basic principles of design and color. Emphasis was place on building the students working knowledge for further studies.

Basic Typography, 1999
Lectured and taught this studio course introducing students to the elements of typography including history of type, terminology and production consideration.

Campaign Graphics, 2001
Instructed course introducing practices used in the advertising industry to developed effective ad campaign strategies. This included researching demographics, concept modeling, investigation of resources and marketing application.

Career Preparation, 2002
Lectured to prepare students to market themselves in their chosen fields. Emphasis was on assessing their skills, developing networks, generating cover letters, resumes and interviewing techniques. It also included skills on developing self-confidence and realistic expectations.

Color Theory, 1997
Taught studio course to introduce to students to basic, intermediate and advance principles of color theory. This including history, style, trends and the psychological affects of color.

Corporate Identity, 2002
Created and taught course exploring the history, purpose and psychology of corporate identity programs. Students executed multi-faceted corporate identity packages required by modern corporations.

Design and Color Theory, 1998
Taught studio course to build students knowledge of the visual impact of color and design usage. Students created projects from concept to completion and provided critical evaluations of effectiveness.

Design Workshop, 1997, 1998(2), 1999(2), 2000
Developed, lectured and taught senior level course to provide students with advanced design solution for projects within their respective field of study.

Digital Design, 1997
Taught introductory course to students introducing them to professional software. Students developed knowledge, concepts and vocabulary necessary for further study in computer graphics.

Developed and taught course to students involving design and use of digital type. Including platform, storage and transport, applicable media as well as communication theory and practice.

Created and taught lecture/lab course to students involving computer software as a creative tool. Software skill development lessons were provided along with delivery of student-centered commercially applicable design projects.

Drawing and Perspective, 2001
Taught studio foundation course in drawing including two and three-dimensional perspective.

Taught students who demonstrated a high proficiency in their chosen field. External academic activity was developed to meet their individual needs.

Layout, 1999, 2000, 2001 Created and taught course exploring various means of indicating visual elements in design. Integration of elements including photographs, illustrations and type were used to create press-ready artwork.

Type as Design, 1998
Taught course in which students used type exclusively as a design elements to create unique projects. In-depth analysis of color, size, shape and other considerations relevant to type and typography were explored.

Typography, 1999
Taught intermediate course to further student's foundation in the use of type. The history of type was emphasized with a survey of current trends and methods.

Portfolio, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001
Taught lab course in which design students completed the digital sections of their portfolio. Assessment and evaluation was provided to assist the student in developing a professional portfolio.

Portfolio and Career Preparation, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000(2), 2001, 2002
Created senior level lecture course that surveyed current industry standards opportunities and realities of the visual communications design industry. Students provided group and self-evaluations, critiques of senior portfolios. The course finished with a public gallery showing and personal presentation of their work to potential employers.

Print Production, 2000, 2001
Instructed students in the preparation of file for digital output. This included a wide variety of media with emphasis on the correct techniques for the right printing press operation or production model.

Provided pioneering educational development and instruction in the online post-secondary graphic design career education program. Developed over 20 syllabi and weekly lessons offered in the four-year accredited degree program.

Worked as lead developer and subject matter expert for this first online graphic design course. Provided content, design and development all the way to successful delivery. The first of it's kind; it opened the door to many courses that followed.

Portfolio and Career Preparation, 1999, 2000
Created and taught this first online portfolio course with emphasis in personal career preparation. Provided lessons on digital delivery of portfolio materials and presentation.

Basic Drawing, 1999, 2000, 2001
Created and taught this first online drawing course including overall concept, lectures and projects. Subsequent digital media and other supportive materials have followed making this a popular class.

Environmental Design, 2000
Created and taught this online course to provide students with a background in environmental considerations relative to design. Architectural design considerations were explored including ADA and other government standards. It concluded with student digital presentations of their own signage and wayfinding packages.

Corporate Identity, 2000, 2001
Taught online course exploring the multi-faceted issues related to identification and branding of corporate entities. Students researched and expored non-profit companies and attempted to provide them with lasting and meaningful identity programs.

Color Theory, 2000
Taught this online course that explored color and use including psychological and theoretical issues. Students developed projects for evaluation and portfolio.
